ELECTIVE / OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

ELECTIVE / OPTIONAL SUBJECTS:

Elective or optional subjects are the subjects, students have the freedom to choose from. For an instance if students of a school have to appear in 5 subjects

SUBJECT 1: ENG                                                                (Compulsory)
SUBJECT 2: PHY                                                                (Compulsory)
SUBJECT 3: CHEM                                                             (Compulsory)
SUBJECT 4: MATH                                                             (Compulsory)
SUBJECT 5: BIO/IP/CS/BIOTECH/PHY EDU                  (Optional / Elective)

In this case students with different optional subjects will have to attend different lectures at a time.

HOW TO SPECIFY OPTIONAL SUBJECTS IN UTT:

Specifying optional subjects is available in the "Distribution of Subjects" section in UTT. To get "Distribution of subjects" sheet follow step 1 to step 12 of Chapter 2: Creating Time Table.

(NOTE: If you have elective subjects to assign then the total no of periods in the "NO OF PERIODS PER WEEK" sheet will be more than actual periods to be assigned.

Example: If you have to create a time table of 6 days a week and 8 periods per day then the total no of actual periods should be

8 periods x 6 days = 48 periods per week.

But if the students have the option to choose between Bio (7 periods) and Maths (7 periods) then the total periods before assigning the optional will be

48+7= 55 periods per week.

But after you assign optional periods as described below then the total periods after assigning will be 48 again. If it is not so then there might be some problem in the data entered.)

First of all you'll have to specify the teachers for all subjects as "Specific Teacher Only" (Refer Subject Details Sheet).
After that you'll find a link of "ELECTIVE/OPTIONAL SUBJECTS" it will guide you to the "AddElective" sheet.

NOTE: "Elective/Optional Subjects" link will be available in the "Distribution of subjects" sheets for upto UTT 2.7 and in "Advance Setting" sheet for UTT 2.8 or higher (Yet to be published).

The link will guide you to the "Add Elective" sheet. Here you need to assign the elective subjects for individual sections separately. Only select the class & section and the elective subjects and click on the Add Elective button. UTT will do rest of the relevant changes automatically.

You can view all the elective subjects chosen by you in the View All section.

Once you are done click on the BACK button. Please do not panic if it navigate you to Number of Periods per week sheet.

Now you are done with Elective Subject and you can continue as usual.......
